Things are going to be a little quiet around here for a few days while I take a short holiday. When I return, we will be jumping in full swing. You may notice a few changes around here, but it will all be for the better.
I’m debating on keeping the daily challenges. I want to keep doing them, but I also have lots of new ideas floating in my head, and I don’t want to bombard you with several posts a day. I want Today’s Homemaker to integrate more of a love of the atmosphere of the home rather than focusing on pure cleanliness. My desire is to cultivate a love of “process” rather than results.
It’s difficult sometimes to find a good balance between practicality and aesthetics. I love all the interior design that’s going on, but I always look at the homes featured and think, “Wow. I can’t possibly achieve that.” Be it time, money, skills, or other resources, I simply fall short.
It’s easy to say, “Buy this. Buy that.” “Hire this person. Do this project. Plant these flowers.” But how do you capture the inspiration behind it? How can we be convinced that we CAN create the home that we dream of having? Right now. With the kids and the dogs and the Christmas wreath that is still hanging on a beam in the kitchen.
I guess there’s no cookie cutter recipe, is there? But those are my thoughts and dreams right now, so we’ll see where they take us. Thanks for reading! I’ll see you next week!

Oh my! You have so hit the nail on the head! This was my dilemma a few years back with 4 under 4! How do I make a pile of laundry look lovely and appealing to me…? How do I go about relishing the process of home keeping AND include my children too? So I started writing to myself a book to encourage myself in this whole endeavor and now I have a website (as of about a week ago) the Romantic Mom…so that I might not feel like the only one!Your site is just wonderful and I’m absorbing all sorts of inspiration here! Thanks so much!
