The word “homemaker” is practically an obscenity these days. I certainly don’t tell anyone I’m a homemaker. And for all intents and purposes, I’m not. Not in the way you think of anyway.
I’m a 25-year-old creative director of the web design firm my husband and I launched. I’m a well-loved mama to a toddler and a preschooler. I’m a life-long learner and lover of books. I am falling in love with my sewing machine. I paint. I draw. I’m passionate about my faith (Christian). I love my dog, even though he is in perpetual need of a bath and a haircut. I’m a writer. I spend copious amounts of time out of doors, even in winter. Most of all, I’m a HUGE dreamer.
And also…I like my house.
Before you get to thinking that my house is an impeccable shrine to order and cleanliness, it is NOT. In fact, I am a person who needs more inspiration than most. I find that when I am inspired, I can do anything. Even clean my house and cook pad thai and rearrange the furniture.
So here’s my mission. First, to turn the word “homemaker” on its head and transform it from a four-letter word into something to be proud of. Who knows if that will happen…it seems the trend is to find new words to define a love of home. Which is good, too. Second, to inspire you to create a life for yourself that truly reflects who YOU are. Not who anyone else tells you that you should be.
