Our first ever Carnival of Modern Home Dwelling was a huge success, and now we’re planning the next one! Today’s Homemaker is growing by leaps and bounds, and we’d love to include you as a part of this exciting two-week event, which will be held Monday, August 4th through Friday, August 14th.
Why be a part of the carnival?
Well, it’s cool for one thing. With more and more trendy home dwellers finding out about us, we’re building a great community of like-minded people. And while we’re still a teeny planet in the whole scope of the blogosphere with between 400-700 visitors a day, the people who come here are pretty awesome.
Plus, it’s really fun to give people kudos for the things that they are doing to inspire us in the act of living. In this carnival, the playing field is completely level. We choose the best entries, regardless of who’s created or submitted them.
Here’s how you can get involved…
Donate something super-cool for the prize packages
This time around, we are going to have 10 (TEN!) winners…one for each of the categories. We’d love to be able to shower them with cool things to show our appreciation of their work. If you make or sell something great or offer a wonderful service that you’d like to donate, be sure to get in touch by filling out the form below. It’s a great way to get your product/service out there.
Apply to be a judge on our panel
If you’d like to apply to be a judge of the final entries, go ahead and fill out the sponsor application below. We are looking for folks who have a proven mastery of their chosen category. What does that mean? Well, if you have a blog or website dedicated to a particular topic, and your sense of style and content meshes with ours, you’d be a good candidate! You can apply to judge in one category.
Donate a few bucks to help cover shipping
Contrary to what you might think, we’re not making the big bucks around here. What we do make goes directly to paying our internet host. So whether you want to donate $3, $5, $10 or more, it will greatly help us ship out the prize packages to each of the ten winners. If we should have anything left over, it will go toward the purchase of more prizes.

So what do we do for our wonderful sponsors?
Last time around, we weren’t confident that we’d have enough of a response to make it worthwhile for sponsors. But since we’ve seen the growth that our wee little blog made as the carnival grew nearer, we know we’re onto something here. And we’d like to share that with you.
- For each day of the carnival (there are 10), we will have one or more featured sponsors. Featured sponsors are people who go above and beyond to promote this event. Donate some great stuff to the winners’ prize packages, send a kajillion people over to the carnival page, send money for shipping costs, become a judge on our panel…you know. Be creative. Of course, everyone who writes about us (and lets us know) will be linked to on the sponsor’s page, but those dear few who go beyond the call of duty will be featured prominently.
- We will have a separate sponsors page that will list all of the people who contributed to the event, whether the contribution was large or small. This will be linked to at the beginning of each carnival post.
- We will have a separate page with bios on each of the judges on our judging panel.
- When the carnival is over, our special “featured sponsors” will be rotated weekly via graphic buttons in the sidebar until everyone has had equal exposure.
